About me
Melissa's journey as a mother of five, has been unique. When her first son was born prematurely with a one of a kind genetic disorder, which included developmental delays the and her husband Rob had a steep learning curve. What began as a quest for support and resources for her child's unique needs has evolved into a profound learning experience for Melissa and her family. Never doubting her child’s right to be included but having to to research how to enforce those rights Melissa discovered a wealth of lessons and discovered a valuable supporter in Inclusion Alberta; whose efforts and programming has enriched Justin’s life immeasurably. This June Justin will walk the stage to graduate with his peers thanks to Inclusion Alberta’s partnership with NAIT and the Team who has helped Justin in his programming. Melissa and Robert could not be happier with the support that has been found with Inclusion Alberta’s post secondary program. This programming has allowed Justin to grow and spread his wings in so many areas of his life.
Beyond her role as a mother, Melissa is deeply engaged in the field of support for those with disabilities. A new position acting as team lead for a family managed home, and roles as respite worker and community aide, where she dedicates her time and energy to nurturing and supporting teens and young adults with a broad spectrum of neurodiversity, cognitive disabilities, and complex needs. Her work in this field is driven by a profound passion for fostering resilience, forging connections, and Unwavering commitment in helping our community recognize the value of inclusion for all individuals, irrespective of their cognitive or physical diversity.
